Action Comedy Movies

Two large genres of movies that actually create a great and entertaining combination are action and comedy movies. These two genres, while different and unique, mesh together well. Also, this sub-genre has a lot of variety from diverse locations and settings, to a broad range of characters.

The earliest film on our list is director Stanley Kramer’s “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World”, which originally premiered in 1963, and won the Oscar for best sound effects. In contrast, the most recent flick featured below is “Tropic Thunder” from 2008, which was directed and co-written by one of the film’s stars, Ben Stiller. (If you would like to know about more films that were released in this year, then head over to our 2008 comedy movies article).

For those who are in the mood for a kung fu flick, then you definitely can’t miss the classic 1978 movie “Drunken Master” with Jackie Chan (If you are fan of this international star then check out Jackie Chan Movies for more details on this him as well as his films list. Or for a more current alternative, check out Stephen Chow’s flick “Kung Fu Hustle”.  What about a good cop flick? Two of the films on our top ten feature cops as the main characters, such as “The Naked Gun” and “Beverly Hills Cop”. For a choice with some more romance, then we have to recommend “Grosse Pointe Blank”, with John Cusack and Minnie Driver.  Interested in an animation film that would be ok to watch with the kids but is still full of humor and action, then check out “Kung Fu Panda” at the bottom of the list. There are a few actors who appeared in more than one of the films which made the list, like Jack Black, Dan Aykroyd and Jackie Chan.
