Tyler Perry Movies


Perry is not only a writer but also a director, actor and producer as well. Before his comedy films, Perry was writing and acting in plays. He later adapted several of these plays into film scripts. One of his more recognized and popular characters, is Madea, and she appears in many of his works. Not only did Perry create this character on paper, but he moreover brought her to life on the stage and screen. His first big screen adaption of one of his plays was “Diary of a Mad Black Woman”, which was released in 2005. Perry authored the screenplay and acted in this flick. The next picture which was released, was also based on one of Perry’s plays, was the comedy/drama “Madea’s Family Reunion” in 2006.

Not only did Perry write and direct plays and films, but on top of that he has created, written for, and directed two television series, “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns”. And, even in a few instances, he acted on the shows as well.

But Perry hasn’t just done comedies. “Daddy’s Little Girls” from 2007 is actually a romantic drama which was written for the screen. Another drama from Perry is the flick “The Family That Preys Together”. And in 2010, the drama “For Colored Girls” was directed by Perry, who also adapted the screenplay from a play by Ntozake Shange.

Recently, in 2010, Perry wrote, directed, and starred in the romantic comedy “Why Did I Get Married Too?”. His latest work which premiered in theatres in April of 2011 was “Madea’s Big Happy Family”.
